Petrichor is caused by microbes in the soil interacting with warm rain and it’s intoxicated people for as long as the rains have been falling. The scent carries with it a type of raw, primal power. The sky has just taken a bath, the old, the sloughed-off, the no longer necessary have all been washed away.
